MADAME WEB, also known as Cassandra Webb, swings into the Marvel Comics universe as a clairvoyant and precognitive mutant. Debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in November 1980, she was created by Denny O'Neil and John Romita Jr. Usually depicted as an elderly woman battling myasthenia gravis, Madame Web is connected to a life support system resembling a spiderweb. Her first appearance involves aiding Spider-Man in a kidnapping case. In the "Grim Hunt" storyline, Madame Web faces a brutal attack by Kravinoff, leading to her passing on her powers and blindness to Julia Carpenter, the next Madame Web. Despite succumbing to the Carrion Virus, she experiences resurrection and is revealed to be the grandmother of Charlotte Witter, the fourth Spider-Woman. Madame Web's influence extends beyond comics, featuring in Spider-Man-related media like the animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), where Rachel Dratch voices a character inspired by her, and an upcoming film where Dakota Johnson will portray Cassie Webb.
